  • ⭐️ 100 MILES COMPLETED!!!! ⭐️

    Sat 31 Jul 2021

Well done and THANK YOU to our AMAZING Dads who have completed a 100 mile walk across London to raise money for our school. They are covered in blisters, very tired and in lots of pain but happy to have completed such an amazing challenge.

The boys started at the Thames Barrier on Friday walking a total of 29 miles. They completed another 37 miles yesterday and 34 miles today ending in Reading.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated and supported the school this year. Our Fab Four Dads have raised an amazing £1560 so far. Here is their journey in pictures.

  • Royal Shakespeare Company Associates School Program 2021-2923

    Sun 18 Jul 2021

We are really proud to announce that for a third consecutive time Ethelbert Road has been chosen to participate in the Associate Schools Programme 2021-2023 in partnership with The Marlowe Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). The programme is targeted towards schools who want to develop and improve access to Shakespeare, and to deliver the best teaching in the classroom through active drama techniques. Through the Associate Schools Programme we have received fantastic development training for teachers and rich cultural and learning experiences for our children.

Our Creative Arts Lead, Mrs West is extremely excited to once again be part of this wonderful project and we are all looking forward to another magical year of Shakespeare.

  • Wilder Kent Award

    Sun 18 Jul 2021

This term we entered the Wilder Kent Awards and the judges were really impressed by all of the work we are doing at Ethelbert Road in contributing to creating a Wilder Kent.

The Wilder Kent Awards is a scheme to reward and acknowledge the work of schools and community groups that are helping us to create a Wilder Kent by taking positive action to restore nature and helping adults and children to reconnect with nature. Their action benefits us locally and helps tackle the global environmental threats we all face.

Following a review of our application the judges decided to award our school a commendation! Congratulations to Mrs Willis and Mrs Calzada who led this project and all our wonderful children who took part.

  • Say No to Bullying and Racism

    Wed 14 Jul 2021

Ethelbert Road's pupils have been very uplifted by the historic achievements of the England football team; however, they have also been horrified by the abuse players received after doing their best in the finals.

Our Year 4 teacher Miss Constantine was assuming her pupils would arrive at school on Monday morning extremely disappointed that England had come second in the Euros. She was in fact overwhelmed by their reaction as her class's disappointment was, in fact, due to the appalling behaviour of some of the fans.

At Ethelbert Road we do not tolerate bullying or racial abuse and the pupils were so mortified by what had happened they decided to write letters to the England footballers to tell them how proud they are of their success and how bullying and racism cannot, and will not be tolerated by their generation.

Please take the time to read their letters and join us in taking a stand against bullying and racism.

Thank you to all the families who came to celebrate the end of their child’s school year with us. It was lovely seeing you face to face and catching up. Your children have settled back into school life so well and they are a credit to you.  The staff and governors are grateful to you all for doing such a fantastic job of home schooling  your child/children.
