Letters & Sounds

Miss F's Phonics Group:

Today we are learning all about the letter y. Watch this video to find out more:

Now have a go at reading real and nonsense y words in the game below: Picnic on Pluto. Select phase 3 in the menu and then the y sound. Have lots of fun!

You could write a list of all the y words that appear in this game and sort them into real or nonsense. We've had a go at this and there is a photo below to give you the idea.

Mrs Haylor's Phonics Group:

Our learning focus this week is to practice to read and spell words that have adjacent consonants and long vowels; such as: spoil, groan, brown, green, spoon.

Watch today's video to find out more:

We will be learning to read and spell the tricky words one and out today.

Get your felt tip pens out and practice writing the words one and out on an A4 piece of paper. How many times can you write these words in a minute? Make sure that your handwriting is neat and that you are joining your letters.

Please see below for today's worksheet. Read the sentences carefully and fill in the missing word. You can use this worksheet as good handwriting practice too.

Mrs Willis' Phonics Group:

Today, we are learning to explore alternative pronunciation of the u grapheme.

Watch today's video to find out more:

Visit the Phonics Play website and play Acorn Adventures, selecting the grapheme 'u'.
