  • Community Feedback

    Wed 24 Apr 2024

We were lucky enough to have the wonderful Ethelbert Road Primary School visit us today at the home with their Year 6 pupils, who were amazing with our residents ❤️ an absolute asset to the school! And so very polite!

They spoke to the home about what they had learnt during their WW2 project and we were amazed at the knowledge they had. Our residents shared their own experiences and stories and it was something special watching two very different generations come together as one.

We can't thank you enough for coming to see us and we can't wait to have you back with your choir in April, residents are already looking forward to it 😁

  • Faversham art trail

    Tue 23 Apr 2024

Year 4 would like to say a big thank you to Jo from Animatearts who took us on a trail around Faversham to look at artwork. The children took their clipboards and enjoyed sketching all the fabulous things they saw. We learnt a lot about different artists both past and present.

  • Science Club

    Thu 18 Apr 2024

Science Club made Newton's Discs and they noticed that when they spun quickly, all the colours looked grey or white. They also had fun making helicopter spinners which they launched in the hall.

  • World War 2 in our locality

    Thu 28 Mar 2024

Year 6 visited Canterbury House Care Home this afternoon to share their learning about World War 2 in the local area with the residents. The children had an amazing time talking to everyone and learning about their personal experiences. A big thank you to Canterbury House Care Home for letting us visit and making us very welcome. The choir are looking forward to singing for you soon.

  • Captain Wonderweb

    Thu 28 Mar 2024

Ethelbert Road jetted off on an exciting adventure yesterday with Captain Wonderweb and the somewhat trusty crew as they explore the distant stars and, more importantly, what makes for safe web surfing. In this adventure, we learnt all about internet safety, delivered in a fun and colourful package. Captain Wonderweb was an entertaining show with a crucial message for children growing up in the digital age.

  • Pen Pals from Valencia, Spain

    Wed 27 Mar 2024

We are so excited that we now have a link established with a Spanish school in Valencia, Spain. Year 4, 5 and 6 will write to their pen pal in Spanish and English, in order to practise their Spanish and to help their pen pal to practise their English.

We have looked at some of their photos of the Valencian festival "Las Fallas" and will write our replies to their fantastic letters in term 5. We will use our Spanish vocabulary to tell them all about ourselves and what there is to see and do in Faversham.

  • Mask Making for the Faversham Community Opera

    Wed 27 Mar 2024

Our Year 5 and Year 6 children who are taking part in the  Faversham Community Opera event at St Mary’s Church enjoyed a mask making workshop with Mrs West. Their masks and singing voices are amazing.

  • Royal Shakespeare Company Schools Association Programme

    Wed 27 Mar 2024

Our Shakespeare Club were very lucky to have a workshop delivered by Callum from The Marlowe Theatre. He taught the children some amazing movement and characteristic skills and was super impressed when they showed him their scene from Hamlet. We are so proud  to be an associate school of the RSC and we can't wait to perform our scene in Hamlet at The Marlowe Theatre in June.

With links between creativity and mental health already well-established, research also shows that young people who study creative subjects are more likely to do well at school, be more employable and become more active, engaged citizens.

  • Sign Language Week

    Fri 22 Mar 2024

Ethelbert Road has enjoyed taking part in Sign Language Week. The theme was Promoting BSL and we engaged in lots of different activities. The whole school took up the challenge of learning different signs and enjoyed taking part in a special PE session where the children communicated via signing only. Some classes joined in the largest sign language lesson, learnt songs and we ended the week by making a special video.
