National Storytelling Week

I am very passionate about instilling a love of books within children. Books have a wonderful way of helping with children’s development. Within the world of books, you can find imagination and creativity and it opens your child's mind to a whole new world of vocabulary.  

 

Storytelling is vital in Year 1 as it allows children to retell well known stories and then use their imagination to adapt them to create their own. This week, see if your child can retell a well-known story. It could be one of their favourite stories that they know by heart or it could be one of the dinosaur stories that we have been focusing on this term.

 

To mark this week, I have included an extra recording of a book that I would like to share with the children. I hope it shows that I love nothing more than sharing a story, that books can be fun and enjoyable but that they can also deliver powerful message too.
