Can you add your own text to explain what is happening? Or you could use the audio recording options within Powerpoint to tell your version of the story and then play it back later.
If you wanted you could create a trailer for the film of the book, so you would have to pick out key moments without giving away too much of the plot. You could use movie maker or iMovie.
