This book starts with the words 'It was a dark and stormy night...' these are famous and familiar words that could and have started a number of stories.

Can you write your own story starting with these words?
Have a look at the pictures below if you need some inspiration.

Make sure you have listened to Miss Tucker read ‘It was a dark and stormy night’ before you read the challenges below.

In the story there is a monster called a ‘Thingy’. Can you describe the Thingy or create your own Thingy? You could write a description and draw a picture.

You could write a story about your own Thingy or how the Thingy in the story got into the castle.

Have a think about the section with the banquet. Can you describe what you would include in a banquet? Perhaps you could write a menu or instructions to make part of your banquet?
