Today we will look at what happens when you add _er or _est to a root word which has a short vowel (a, e, i, o, u) before the consonant:
hot - hotter - hottest
wet - wetter - wettest
Can you see what has happened to the final consonant? Please work through the Powerpoint below and then add _er and _est to these words:
- sad
- wet
- big
- fit
- thin
- mad
- hot
