Non-fiction writing: Using interesting Sentence Starters

I hope that you read all about The Great Wall of China yesterday as part of your topic learning.  Today, we will be learning about how to use interesting sentence starters to make non-fiction writing more engaging for the reader.

Task

Can you write out the sentences below, selecting a suitable sentence starter? Challenge yourself to write your own factual sentence about the Great Wall, using a sentence starter.

Choose a red sentence starter, then put it in front of a sentence.  Here is mine:

Did you know that the Emperor Qin ordered the wall to be built?

Top Tips:

  • Be careful, you might need to turn your full stop into a ? or !
  • You will need to change the CL into a lower case letter.
