BLACK HISTORY WEEK

This week is Black History Week for Red Class. We are going to explore the very recent Black Lives Matter protests and explore some of the history that explains the struggles black people have experienced around the world. We will focus on one key figure who had a hugely significant impact on securing rights and freedoms for people in the USA in the 50s and 60s - sadly, not that long ago!

I would like you to begin by watching the two videos below. One is a story by Julius Lester which introduces us to the idea of race. Then, I would like you to watch a video by a very successful journalist, Martin Bashir, explaining why Martin Luther King Jr is his historical hero.
