Letters and Sounds

Phase 6

Look at these verbs:

clap, trip, hop, jog, skip, hug, beg

What do you notice?  They each have a short vowel sound - a, e, i, o, u.

When a verb has 1 syllable, 1 vowel and 1 consonant, we double the final consonant before adding _ed.

Task 1

Can you add _ed onto these verbs, remembering to double the final consonant?

clap, trip, hop, jog, skip, hug, chat, stop, drag, grab, wag, step, slip, rub

clap ... clapped

hop ...hopped

Task 2

Can you choose a verb and write a sentence in the past tense? Here is mine:

The friendly, furry cat rubbed his head around Rosie's legs!
