Buenos dias Year 6!
Hope you are all keeping well and managing to squeeze some learning into your new daily routines! I'm sure diaries are looking amazing and that you already have lots of interesting entries.
Over the next week, I would like you read or listen to the first chapter of the Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Graham. You can listen to this for free on Audible if you don't have a copy. I will be setting work based on this text.
Also, I will deliver our Book Club text - There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom - to our Book Club members, and I will investigate how we can read this together next week. Maybe through Zoom. Keep checking for updates!
I hope you all have a good book to enjoy at the moment. If you haven't, I'd like to recommend two books which link perfectly with our World War 2 topic. Firstly, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. This is a story seen from the eyes of 10-year-old Annemarie, a Danish girl, who watches the Danish Resistance attempt to smuggle almost the entire Jewish population of Denmark across the sea to Sweden. A tale of heroism during a time of war.
Secondly, The Missing: The true story of my family during WW2 by Michael Rosen. A fascinating read punctuated by poetry.
