Welcome to our Governors’ section.
The Governors would like to welcome you to Ethelbert Road Primary School. Ethelbert Road Primary School is a maintained school and our Governing Body is guided by the Department of Education regulations and has 3 core functions:
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance and management of staff
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
Meet the Governors
Kristian Garsed Chair of Governors
I am currently the Chair of Governors, having been elected as Chair by my fellow Governors in June 2018. I have been a parent governor since 2015 and my two children both attend the School. I feel very privileged to be able to work closely and collaboratively with the passionate and wonderfully talented staff team, and to be a part of this truly dedicated governing body, to ensure all of the children have the best possible experience, opportunities and outcomes during their time as pupils at Ethelbert Road.
Dr Ted Wilcox Vice Chair of Governors
I have been a governor at Ethelbert Road since 2001 and I am currently the Vice Chair of Governors and a Finance Governor. I am also a Faversham Town and Swale Borough Councillor. Before I retired I was a Chemistry/Computer Teacher at Borden Grammar School.
Michele Kirkbride Headteacher
I was delighted to take up the post of Headteacher at Ethelbert Road Primary School in January 2019. With the support of a dedicated team, I endeavour to give each child the best opportunities so they can reach their true potential and leave our school as creative, curious and confident learners. I work closely with the Governing Body to monitor and evaluate the work of the school and constantly look for ways to improve.
Siobhan O’Connor
I am Siobhan O’Connor and I have been involved with Ethelbert Road for twelve years since my youngest daughter started school here when it was an infant school. It is a privilege to continue to be part of the Ethelbert family through my role as a Governor and to support all the children, staff and parents.
Colin Edwards Co-opted Governor
I have been a governor of Ethelbert Road since September 2015. I have 3 children at the school and am passionate about supporting our school leaders to achieve the best outcomes for children. I am responsible for health and safety and undertake regular monitoring visits.
Kelvin Jones Staff Governor
I have been the Staff Governor since September 2017. I am the Deputy Head and SENCo of our school and support the governing body in monitoring all aspects of school improvement.
Judith Nockolds Co-opted Governor
I am delighted to be a governor of Ethelbert Road and currently have one child at the school. I am passionate in my desire to help achieve the best possible schooling experience for our children, through the continual support and development of teachers and staff, whilst ensuring Ethelbert Road is financially secure to continually deliver the best for our pupils.
Emma Wilcox Co-opted Governor/ Safeguarding Governor
I am a passionate advocate of Ethelbert Road and have three children who all attended the school. I have been a governor since 2017 and am responsible for safeguarding and online safety.
Julie Willis Co-opted Governor
I have worked at Ethelbert Road since September 2011; I have been a school governor since September 2016. I have been involved with the school for a long time as my children attended Ethelbert Road.
Kefi Culkin Co-opted Governor
I became a co-opted Governor in March 2018. I live in Faversham and had two children at the school. I am passionate in my desire to help achieve the best possible schooling experience for all children at Ethelbert Road.
Jonathan Richardson Parent Governor
I have been a parent governor at Ethelbert Road since March 2018, and have one child at the school. It is an honour for me to be able to support the staff and children in their development and help to enable their continuing success.
