Assessment in PE

At Ethelbert Road we assess through the learning objectives in our scheme of work. These link with the National Curriculum objectives. We also make use of the Whole School Progression Maps in the specific areas of PE to support assessment. Teachers and support staff use 'check its' during the learning to ensure that pupils are keeping up and therefore negate the need to catch up at a later stage. These 'check its' are used at any stage of the learning activity. Through pupil participation and reflection, pupils have the opportunity to present an aspect of their learning to others. This stage known as the 'show it' provides opportunities for pupils to demonstrate their learning to others. Assessment attainment is recorded on our assessment system, Insight Assessment. The data is collected twice a year and analysed by the subject leaders. The out come of the analysis is presented to the senior leaders and interventions and strategies are planned.
