Statistics - 2 weeks

This week, we are starting a brand new topic in Maths ... statistics.   Statistics is all about block diagrams, pictograms, tally charts and more.  It is a great way to collect data and show how many people like/do certain things.  We could show things like 'Which is the favourite fruit?' or 'Types of Vehicles that go past my road'.

 

 

Tallying

Today, we are going to be learning about tallying.  Have a look at these images, what do you notice?

Task 1:

Watch the White Rose video lesson - there are tallying activities to complete as you watch the lesson so you will need to get a pencil and paper ready.

 

Task 2:

Can you make your own tally of either different coloured cars or different types of vehicle which you see going past your house/at the end of your road?  You could use the worksheets attached below or draw out your own table.
