School Clubs

At Ethelbert Road we offer an extensive range of inclusive clubs to meet the interests of all our children. Clubs run before school, after school and at lunchtime and in blocks of two terms (Term 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6). Our clubs are led by our amazing Sports Assistant, outside providers, staff parents and pupils.

Additional to our clubs we offer additional music lessons with our fantastic peripatetic music teachers. We are currently offering violin, cello and piano lessons. For more information on how to start music lessons please ask the school office, or email music@ethelbert-road.Kent.sch.uk.

Our sports clubs are overseen by our inspirational Sports Assistant Miss Emma Brown. Miss Brown plays futsal (football) for the England Women’s Deaf Team (being the captain for many years) and represents GB in the Deaflympics as Captain. She brings a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge to our school.

We enjoyed following the Women's Deaf Football Team as they played in the World Cup in Brazil and the Deaflympics 2024 in Turkey.

Staff Clubs

Our talented staff run a range of clubs in their own time, such as; Netball, Science Club, construction club, cross country running at the weekend, football, cooking, signing, choir, Shakespeare Club, War Hammer Club, Coding Club (led by a parent), This Girl Can, dance, origami, gardening, Rubix Cube Club, Book Club, Maths Club to name a few.

Pupil Led Clubs

Our amazing children are always keen to develop their leadership skills and throughout the year they design and lead clubs at lunchtime.

Our Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2 child have the opportunity to run clubs outside, every lunchtime. They design a poster, find a space on the playground and have fun! These leadership skills are further developed in upper Key Stage 2. Children bring their ideas to the Headteacher, then make arrangements with staff for use of a room, find equipment, find an adult to support them and design a poster. Once this is in place the children share their club in Assembly and then start! Clubs include: War Hammer, Rubix Cube, Art, Well-being, board games, writing club, chess club to name a few!

Outside Providers

We also have the support from outside providers who come to school to share their expertise. These clubs include football from Football Futures, Dance from Shauna Olivia Studios, French Lessons with Mrs Austin and Coding with Mr Carter.

Ethelbert Road will ensure that our service is fully inclusive in meeting the needs of all children, particularly those that arise from their ethnic heritage, social and economic background, gender, ability or disability. Our setting is committed to anti-discriminatory practice to promote equality of opportunity and valuing diversity for all children and families. In accordance with Department of Education requirements we also promote the fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
