Reading
Please continue to listen to your Roald Dahl audio books. If you can borrow the book ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ by Roald Dahl, we will be studying it next week. If you can’t get hold of a copy, don’t worry, we will put a YouTube link up.
As always, find a little time to read each day. Reading is so important and helps us with lots of areas of our learning. Try to read out loud putting lots of expression into your reading to make it sound interesting to listen to. Here is the story of The Little red hen for you to read. You can practice different voices for each animal!
Writing
I have found a lovely you tube story ‘Eric the Brave' that I'd like you to listen to this week. Can you remember all the creatures he meets and the adventures he has?

Activity 1
Make a list of all the creatures Eric the knight meets in his adventures. Remember to list each creature on a new line.
My List
- A black knight
- A giant ogre
When you have written your list, you can use this list to help you write a retell of the story tomorrow.
Activity 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn8RDDb7CDA
Play the story of Eric the Brave Knight again. Talk about what happens in the story with an adult. Remember the list you made to help you. See if you can write some sentences to retell some of the story. Remember a capital letter at the start of each sentence and a full stop at the end. See if you can use some describing words to describe the knight, the ogre and other characters. I have put a Brave Knight writing frame for you to print to write your story on, or you can write it in a book. When you have written your sentences, I would love you to draw a picture or two from the story. I know you are all good at this!
Activity 3
We have been learning about Knights. Carefully read the Diary of a Castle Knight and answer the questions. Try and write your answers in sentences.
Activity 4
Read the power point about Knights.
Can you draw a picture and write some sentences to describe what jousting is?
Activity 5
Read the power point about Shields.
Now see if you could make and decorate a shield. Remember to think about you colours and which animal you might like on your shield. You can make it out of cardboard, junk or paper. Have fun!
