Ethelbert Road Primary School recognises that technology is part of everyday life for many learners, staff and parents/carers. Mobile technology needs to be used safely and appropriately, so we have made available some resources you may find useful.

Online safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Ethelbert Road Primary School, therefore Online Safety is taught to all pupils. Our curriculum empowers children to understand and be aware how they can to stay safe and behave appropriately online, but we can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with you.

The School's Designated Safeguarding Leads Lisa Vitiello, Claire Cornall, Sally Rix and Michele Kirkbride (the main safeguarding lead) are available to discuss any help you may need or concerns regarding online safety that you may have.

Miss Constantine is the Computing Leader and will oversee the curriculum.

Our Teeny Techies are central to Computing and Online Safety provision at Ethelbert Road. We are skilled, confident technological learners who are able to support children and staff alike, in a range of ways.

We work together with our collaboration schools (Hernhill Primary, Ospringe Primary, Davington Primary and Boughton Under Blean Primary) on an annual basis, ensuring that we receive up-to-date training and knowledge which we can then share with our peers.

We meet to plan events and learning, discuss issues around online safety and maintain the school’s hard wear, including our laptops and iPads.

Our priorities are to further enhance the profile of online safety at Ethelbert Road and to plan and organise Safer Internet Day, as well as focusing on their every day job of supporting and modelling exceptional Computing practice!

The Cyber Squad

The Cyber Squad have chosen their winning e-Safety mascots.

The winning SMART the dog was designed by Chloe in Year 1.

The winning TIBS the cat was designed by Kim in Year 5.

Congratulations to our winning designers, our runners up and to everyone who entered our competition!

Our Cyber Squad held assemblies for both KS1 and KS2 where they taught children key methods to stay safe online. In KS1, they introduced SMART to the children as a way of keeping themselves safe and in KS2, they explored the newly invented 'TIBS' as a way of responding to seeing or receiving unkind comments online.

Our Cyber Squad would like YOU to design our very own E-Safety mascots, SMART and TIBS.

KS1 = SMART the dog

KS2 = TIBS the cat

On Tuesday, our 6 new digital leaders attended e-safety training alongside other schools within our collaboration. On this day, the Cyber Squad was formed!

The Cyber Squad have big plans for promoting e-safety throughout our school so stay tuned...
