Secondary Transition
Secondary Transition Preparation
Dear Parents/Carers,
Our local secondary schools are really looking forward to welcoming all the new year 7 pupils in September.
This is the time of year when we start to plan for the transition from primary to secondary school and discuss ways we can all help our pupils to make this a really positive experience. We all want our pupils to make a really smooth and successful transition to secondary school and to be as best prepared as they can be to take on the new challenges which lay ahead.
Therefore, the secondary school shave asked all primary schools to share with our parents and carers their top tips for a successful transition. These are tips designed for parents and pupils to do together at home. They are planned to enable your child to learn how to be more independent, take more responsibility for themselves and to feel they have the confidence to start to problem solve for themselves.
Starting from today, we will be sending out these tips on a weekly basis. Every week, you will receive a new tip to read and work on at home, if you wish.
We really hope you enjoy them.
Year 6 team.

Kent Test appeals
If your child was not tested or was not assessed as suitable for a Kent grammar school
- You can still apply for a Kent grammar school but your application to that school will be refused when school places are offered on 1 March 2024.
- You will then have the right to appeal to explain why you think it is a suitable option for your child.
