Young Carers

At Ethelbert Road Primary School, we are committed to recognising and supporting the unique challenges faced by young carers.

We understand that caring responsibilities can have a significant impact on a child's education, wellbeing, and development, and we strive to create a fully inclusive school culture where every child feels valued, understood, and supported. We work closely with young carers and their families to ensure they can enjoy school, achieve their full potential, and access the same opportunities as their peers.

Through early identification, pastoral support, flexible approaches where needed, and signposting to specialist services and local young carers' organisations, we help children and families access the support they need.

Our aim is to promote positive wellbeing, reduce barriers to attendance and learning, and equip young carers with the confidence, skills, and resilience they need to be successful in school and better prepared for independent adult lives.

By fostering an accessible, understanding, and supportive environment, we ensure that young carers are able to thrive both academically and personally.

If you require more information about young carers, please feel free to speak to the Headteacher, or Deputy Headteacher/SENCo.
