Last week`s learning 23.3.20
Week beginning 23 March 2020
Hi Lovely Purple Class People!
We hope that you are all well! We have added some more links in the Year 1 Learning zone and we have prepared some work for you to do throughout next week. Please do not worry if you do not complete them all, we understand this is a tricky time for everyone. Right at the bottom of this week`s work is a link to learn a new skill - sign language and the 30 day Lego challenge which we felt might appeal to some of the class! You could spell words in sign language and photograph your Lego models to show us when we are back at school. Most importantly we would love you to continue reading and to keep having stories read to you as you are all doing so well in this area and we really want it to continue! Look in year 1 learning zone for free audio stories. We hope that you have a good week and remember... be kind, be safe and be ready. Love from Mrs Stembridge and Mrs Clinch xx
In Letters and Sounds this week we would like you to focus on split digraphs. Please ask you child to explain to you what a split digraph is. If you google Alphablocks split digraphs there are program to watch which helps the children learning. Then click on the split digraph link below and have a go at saying the words in the pictures and then writing those words. if you do not have a printer, you could ask your child to draw the pictures and then have a go at writing the words. There are lots of other split digraph activities on Twinkl (free to parents)
In Writing we are learning all about instructions. Please watch the PowerPoint below about instructions and then select one of the jam sandwich activities to complete. You could even make a jam sandwich first to help you with the activity! Another day this week you can have a go at writing instructions for cleaning your teeth. We have attached a sheet below. Remember your full stops, capital letters and finger spaces! We would also like you to complete a diary and fill it in as often as you can. Please make sure you can always read your work back to a grown up. It would be lovely if when we all return to school we could all share our diaries.
Reading is very important so please try and find time to read for at least 10 minutes every day.
Spellings for the week are were there little one when out Try to practise writing them in your best joined up writing. if you write them out every day (just like we do at school every morning) you could test yourself on them on Friday!

In Maths we are working on numbers up to 50. I showed the children on Friday how to use top marks maths games in the I pads and there are loads of games on this site to support numbers to 50. Below is one we did in class. You also have your Numbots logins to use! Below are three activities for you to complete over the course of the week. I have also attached a tens frame and a tens and units page to help you.
Please complete you Science selfies if you have not already done so! Information about this is on the class pages page.
Joe Wicks is doing daily PE lessons on his You tube channel. Here is one to get you started.
With Easter approaching we would like you to design an Easter egg. First draw an oval shape and then decorate it with patterns and then colour it in.
Mothers day focus - write a short note to Mummy telling her why you love her!
Discuss the importance of hand washing
Below is a link to learn a song called A Tiny Seed Was Sleeping. We thought it would be a lovely idea if every week we learnt a new song and then when we get back to school we can have an afternoon of singing these new songs we have all learnt at home!
I love to sign. The children have always enjoyed learning signs to songs and rhymes so I thought whilst they are at home they may wish to learn some sign language. I look forward to signing with the children when we are back at school. Use the link below to watch the alphabet being signed and have a go.Happy signing!
