# Maths

This week we will continue to learn about length. We will be measuring the length of items as well as adding and subtracting lengths. Make sure you use column addition and subtraction for the adding and subtracting – remember to start in the ones column.

Watch the video below careful for some useful hints about how to measure.

Activity 1:  Have a look at the ‘measuring lengths’ challenge on MyMaths. Can you convert between metres (m), centimetres (cm) and millimetres (mm)?

Activity 2: In your Target Your Maths book, try A, B or C on pages 74 and 75. Can you read the measurements, measure the lines and draw lines the correct size? (If you don’t have a ruler or tap measure you can still do some of the questions)

The answers are below. Remember to go back and check the question again if you find that you have got an answer wrong.

Activity 3: In your Target Your Maths book, try A, B or C on page 85. Can you add and subtract the lengths? Remember to start in the first column at the right.

The answers are below. Remember to go back and check the question again if you find that you have got an answer wrong.

Extension 1:

Have a look on MyMaths, I have assigned you some activities to practise your multiplying skills in. (correspondence problems, comparing: how many more times, bar multiplication). Have a try at some of these activities to practice your skills.

Extension 2:

Have a look at the link below and try out some of the games. There are game to help you measure length, capacity and weight as well as to help you tell the time.
