Have a look at these two Power Points and see if you know all of these sounds? Can you think of any other words with these sounds in?
E books on Oxford Owl
We have found a great website to access appropriate phonic reading books. Click on the link below and sign in as a parent by pressing join us in the top right corner. All of the e books are free and there are LOADS of phonic books appropriate for your child. They are just like the ones we would be sending home to you from school.
Once you have logged in, select the 4-5 age range, select the letters and Sounds level – start with Phase 2 but if you can read all of these easily move onto Phase 3. Click on all series as it will give you a wider choice of texts.
Once you have read those books you could alter the search to find book bands under the levels tab and choose pink then red then yellow books.
Hopefully this will help some of you find some perfect levelled books for your child to read alone! There are arrows to turn the pages and then your child can sound out the words themselves to read the book. When they have done that they can click on the play button and the site will read the book to them!
We have just spent ten minutes having a go and it is really good and perfect for keeping their reading going so we highly recommend this.
Good luck and happy reading.
Lots of love Mrs Stembridge and Miss Nutt
